Tait Supports Technology and Innovation Sector in New Zealand

Tait is committed to supporting New Zealand’s innovators and researchers to continue the vision of our founder, Sir Angus Tait, to “create an industry, not a business”. We’re therefore very proud to be sponsoring one of the keynote speakers at this year’s Canterbury Tech Summit held in our home town of Christchurch, New Zealand.

Our home region, Canterbury, is the base for many of New Zealand’s most-innovative enterprises built on the development and application of leading technologies, and supported by some of the best engineering education available.

At Tait, we’re determined to keep it that way by supporting the technology and innovation sector in Canterbury, which is why we’re proud to be sponsoring one of the keynote speakers of the Canterbury Tech Summit 2021.

The Canterbury Tech Summit is Canterbury Tech’s stand-out event of the year. It’s highly regarded as a key event in the tech ecosystem annual calendar, selling out each year with over 700 attendees. This year the Tech Summit will be held on Thursday 2nd September 2021 at UCSA in Christchurch.

Sir Angus Tait and the Tait Foundation

Sir Angus Tait

Our primary shareholder is the Tait Foundation, a charitable foundation charged with continuing the vision of our founder, Sir Angus Tait.

Sir Angus Tait was one of New Zealand’s most innovative business leaders and a cornerstone of the country’s flourishing high-tech sector. His school boy interest in electronics led to a remarkable 60-year career in radio communications.

Sir Angus believed that strong research and a commitment to listening to customers would build a business that stands the test of time. His aim was to “create an industry, not a business”.

The Tait Foundation helps fulfil Sir Angus Tait’s vision of encouraging and supporting a vibrant community of technology companies by providing grants to support STEM-subject (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) initiatives at all levels of education.

We hope to see you at the Canterbury Tech Summit

Last year, the summit was postponed because of COVID-19, so we are sure this year’s Tech Summit will be enthusiastically attended and look forward to learning more about what’s planned.
