Dual Band Radios for Public Safety

Police in Outback Roaming

Firefighters, police officers and first responders depend on instant, reliable communications to stay connected when out in the field. However, different networks or frequency bands can complicate a unified and coordinated response. The new Tait TM9456 dual band radio makes it easy to switch between different P25 networks and frequency bands and enables you to communicate through a single control head.

First responders around the world trust Tait P25 solutions for multi-agency coordination in the most challenging environments. We are committed to open standards so you have genuine interoperability across your network, allowing you to communicate with multiple agencies and adjacent networks.

All our P25 radios are multimode, and have the ability to operate on multiple networks such as conventional analog, P25 conventional, P25 trunked Phase 1 and Phase 2 – and can even automatically switch between networks using Tait GeoFencing!

Tait TM9456 Mobile Radio: Dual Frequency Band Capability for P25 Networks

However, many Public Safety organizations work across multiple frequency bands, making staying connected a challenge. The good news is that with the Tait TM9456 dual body radio, you can communicate on different networks and frequency bands without installing separate radios for each band.

The Tait TM9456 mobile provides dual frequency band capability for P25 conventional, P25 trunked and conventional analog solutions, enabling you to make and receive calls on either VHF or UHF radios from a single, easy-to-use control head.

This means radio operation becomes safer and more efficient for first responders, because they don’t need to manually switch between radios or control heads or navigate through different menu structures – allowing them to keep their focus on the job.

Benefits of being able to operate on multiple networks and frequencies include:

  • Interoperability: A dual frequency radio enables communications between Public Safety agencies that operate on different networks and frequency bands.
  • Roam between different networks: When organizations rely on multiple networks for different areas of operation, their radios need the ability to work on every network. For example, UHF for better coverage in urban areas and VHF in more remote, mountainous or densely forested areas.
  • Combine networks: When two separate networks are merged, it can be easier combining two radio systems than replacing or upgrading the network infrastructure.
  • Network migration: mobile radios that can operate on your current network as well as your future network give you the flexibility to roll out new networks at your own speed, saving you the cost and disruption of having to do a complete network replacement all at once.

Flexible Configurations and Installations

All Tait products and solutions are flexible, and the TM9456 is no different: it allows you to mix and match frequency bands and power outputs to suit your needs, and choose a graphical control head with in-built 3W speaker or a hand held control head with 10W or 15W external speakers.

Different teams within organizations often have their own distinct communications requirements, which is why their radios may be programmed with different channels, talk groups, or functions. Color options are available for the control heads to make it easier for teams to identify their equipment in the field.

Remote kits enable a flexible installation too; it allows for the control head and radio bodies to be installed in separate locations. This means radio bodies can be installed under the seat, in a glovebox, or in the trunk if space is an issue, or to make it more convenient.

Exceptional Audio Performance

Tait P25 portable and mobile radios are built to exceed international Public Safety standards with excellent sensitivity, range, and crystal clear audio quality. Our industry-leading RF performance creates less interference and gives better coverage, and a P25 standard-compliant vocoder digitizes the human voice to reduce background noise. To minimize background noise and enhance clear speech even further, additional Digital Noise Suppression software is used.

Easily Manage and Update Your Fleet

The Tait TM9456 is supported by Tait EnableFleet, our configuration management system that gives visibility and control of your radio fleet from a central point of control, making it easier and more efficient to update and optimize the performance of your fleet. With EnableFleet, you can even deliver firmware updates to a radio via over-the-air-programming (OTAP) on a P25 trunked system.
