Explore Tait solutions with our interactive animation

A lightning strike, damaged infrastructure, and an injured workmate. See how a team spread across multiple locations works to respond to these various scenarios, collaborating by using a mix of voice and data across radio, WiFi, and cellular technologies. Explore the ways Tait expertise is Unifying Critical Communications in this interactive customer scenario animation.

Our interactive animation helps guide you through some of the real-life scenarios users experience on the job, and the ways Tait solutions equip them to quickly, safely, and efficiently respond. While this animation follows a utility company, the solutions can be applied across all industries for a wide variety of scenarios. Increased efficiency

GridLink delivers improved efficiency, optimized incident response, and reduced system downtime for utility organizations using Distribution Automation over a Tait DMR network. In our animation, GridLink automatically alerts dispatch to a power outage caused by a lightning strike. The notification means dispatch is aware of the issue as soon as it happens, allowing them to leap into action immediately rather than waiting for a customer to phone in and report it. This saves the utilities company precious time that can help them to avoid fines and customer dissatisfaction over prolonged disruption to service.

Using GridLink, dispatch is able to reroute power to reduce the affected area without needing to send a linesman and vehicle to the scene, again saving valuable time. Since GridLink shows exactly where the fault has occurred, dispatch can send a linesman straight to it, eliminating the need to waste time and resources locating it.

Fast response and enhanced safety

Using Location Services, dispatch is able to quickly find the linesman who is nearest to the fault and send him directly to the scene. A second linesman is then sent out for support, and uses location services to find the fastest route to site. The efficient response allows work to begin quickly.

When one of the linesmen becomes injured at another site later on, dispatch uses location services to find his exact location and send medical assistance directly to him. In emergency situations, the seconds saved by such fast response can often mean the difference between life and death. When combined with additional safety-enhancing features such as Man Down, users can receive medical aid even if they are unable to call for help.

Connected like never before

Using Tait Unify solutions, the first linesman on site is able to send images of the scene back to dispatch so that they are fully aware of the situation. Dispatch then shares these photos with the linesman sent to assist, who is able to see exactly what gear is required for the job and take everything to site. Unify solutions can transfer a wide range of data from a scene back to dispatch, who can then provide it to all relevant users. Improved situational awareness means users arrive on site fully prepared, increasing both their efficiency and safety.

Tait Unify solutions also connect users like never before, as shown when the Gridcomm manager in our animation uses the UnifyVoice app on his smartphone to listen in to the radio network from home during the outage. UnifyVoice ensures that users are always connected, across a range of networks, and no matter which device they choose to use.

UnifyVehicle supercharges this connectivity by providing a vehicle area network combining mobile radio and broadband connectivity. In our animation, the injured lineman finds himself away from his radio and without cellular coverage, but is still able to call for help via the mobile radio in his truck by using UnifyVehicle.

Reliable mission-critical comms

While there are benefits to using both LMR and cellular networks, each also has its disadvantages. For organizations who rely on mission-critical communications, it’s important to know the limitations, and to understand how LMR compares to cellular in different situations. As shown in our animation, Tait products and solutions help to bridge the gap and use the different strengths of each network to create a stronger, more reliable communications system.
