Tait Communications recently attended the Utilities Telecom Council (UTC) tradeshow in Charlotte, North Carolina. We had many visitors and enjoyed both meeting new professionals and seeing old friends again.
This year was a little different for Tait – not only did we have our own booth, but several of our products and solutions were also on display in the Harris booth. Harris and Tait partnered together to provide more choices for our customers, and Harris is the sole distributor in North America for Tait products.
If you weren’t able to attend UTC, or if you’re looking for a refresher from the event, here are a few of the most popular Tait displays on both the Harris and Tait booths:
As you can imagine at a Utility show, there was a lot of interest in the Tait GridLink solution, on display in the Harris booth. Much of our focus was on Keeping the Lights on. GridLink helps by providing a wide-area, mission critical method for transmitting SCADA data, enabling Distribution Automation over large and diverse geographies.

The new 220MHZ TB9300 base station
Tait is one of the few manufacturers who can offer their customers a 216-225MHz base station in DMR Tier 3 or DMR Tier 2. There is a lot to love about this base station, and if you’d like to learn more you can view the specification sheet or watch our video on the Top 5 Benefits of the Tait DMR Base Stations:
One of the most popular Tait innovations across all industries is the exciting new UnifyVehicle platform. This solution turns your mobile radio into a vehicle area network through WiFi. Connected users can access the Cellular, LTE, or LMR network and enjoy better coverage because of the powerful receiver. Open APIs and a computing platform enable countless applications that will keep your organization connected, safe, and efficient.
MPT to DMR Migration Strategies
Before the show even began, Bruce Mazza (President, Tait Americas) and Scott Skibness (Director of Utility Sales, Harris) hosted a joint Harris-Tait user group session in the NASCAR Hall of Fame. We focused on the benefits of DMR and Gridlink solutions, with possible migration strategies for customers who are currently using analog networks. You can learn more in our MPT to DMR Brochure.
The User-Group session was also a great chance to listen to our customers, get feedback on our solutions, and better understand their world. It was a lively and informative discussion for everyone, and we’re very thankful to everyone who participated.
Our new partnership with Harris gave this UTC a big boost and everyone is looking forward to UTC 2018 in Palm Springs, California. We’ll see you there! Of course, if you have questions or want to learn more about Tait solutions for Utilities, you don’t need to wait until the next tradeshow, you can contact us today – we’d love to hear from you.
